The Houston Design Center (7026 Old Katy Rd.) will host a personal appearance by the internationally celebrated designer Florence de Dampierre Tuesday February 9th at 11am in the Fabric House showroom #115. Ms. de Dampierre will give a talk and sign copies of her latest book, French Chic Living.
Author, interior designer, lecturer, historian, entrepreneur, Florence de Dampierre is also known for her energetic personal style, warmth, and exuberance. Ms. de Dampierre grew up in Paris and currently lives in an old house in Connecticut with her husband, children and dogs.
She began Florence de Dampierre Antiques in New York City in 1985. It was the first American antiques shop devoted solely to eighteenth- and nineteenth-century painted furniture. Located in Soho, the shop received many accolades and was the subject of a 1990 New York Magazine cover story.
Litchfield, Connecticut, and New York City-based Florence de Dampierre Design is a leading interior design firm with an international clientele. Ms. de Dampierre was a contributing designer for the prestigious French Designer Showhouse, which was sponsored by House & Garden.
She has lectured extensively across the country and has curated numerous museum exhibitions. Further attesting to her great sense of style, Ms. de Dampierre was elected into Eleanor Lambert’s Best-dressed List as one of the twelve best-dressed women in the world.
French Chic Living is overflowing with time-tested advice and conventional Gallic wisdom for everything from setting up the bar and brewing the perfect cup of tea, to selecting a variety of cheeses for the well-balanced platter. There are tips for polishing silver and repairing chipped porcelain; simple concoctions for making your own all-natural beauty products and home remedies, and, of course, there is de Dampierre’s signature flair for creating delightful bouquets and other home accents to give your abode that quintessential French touch.
