The second annual Design in Bloom with Flower Magazine takes place at The Houston Design Center Tuesday, March 26, in coordination with Texas Design Week Houston. The day kicks off with coffee at 9 am in the Leisure Collections showroom followed by a panel discussion with design luminaries Bunny Williams, Jeffery Dungan, Ariella Chezar, and P. Allen Smith, moderated by Margot Shaw, founder of Flower Magazine. Breakout sessions follow, first with award-winning Alabama architect Jeffery Dungan at 11 am at Thorntree Slate & Marble, where Dungan will speak about his work and new book, The Nature of Home: Creating Timeless Houses (Rizzoli), which explores his light-filled houses built with an emphasis on natural materials. A book signing follows. A luncheon at 11:30 am in Charlotte Nail Antiques includes book signings with all speakers. Next up is Bunny Williams, who presents at 1 pm at James Craig Furnishings. Williams is a member of the Architectural Digest Hall of Fame and the Elle Decor A-List. A book signing follows.
At 2:30 pm in Scene One Interiors showroom, garden and lifestyle expert P. Allen Smith gives a presentation and signs his book P. Allen Smith’s Seasonal Recipes from the Garden (Clarkson Potter), which celebrates the bounty of the season. At 4 pm at Alkusari Stone, New York floral design sensation Ariella Chezar gives a demonstration and signs copies of her new book, Seasonal Flower Arranging: Fill Your Home with Blooms, Branches, and Foraged Materials All Year Round (Ten Speed Press). In addition, a pop-up shop for Halcyon Days scarves, jewelry, and accessories takes place from 10 am to 5 pm at Leslie Hannah Curated Homes. To cap off the day, a reception at 5 pm with light bites, wine, and bubbly is in Dream Theaters showroom.
