The Houston Design Center (7026 Old Katy Rd.) will welcome three design luminaries to the opening day of the annual Spring Market Tuesday April 1, 2014. Interior designers, Alexa Hampton, Jay Jeffers and architect Michael G. Imber will all participate in a Keynote panel discussion at 11AM in the Alkusari Stone Showroom Ste 229 followed by signings of their respective recently released books. The panel will be moderated by Heritage Texas Properties President & CEO, Robin K. Mueck.
Alexa Hampton, the celebrated designer and author of The Language of Interior Design takes readers deeply into her process of selecting the details for elegant, classic homes with inviting living rooms, bedrooms, dining rooms, kitchens, and other spaces.
In her first book, Alexa Hampton shared the basics of interior design–Contrast, Proportion, Color, and Balance–to rave reviews from readers and the media. In Decorating in Detail, Alexa shares the development process for eight elegant homes in locations from New York City to New Orleans. Walking readers through each room, she describes how she and the homeowners chose all of the elements, from textures to fabrics to furniture.
Jay Jeffers is recognized as one of his generation’s most dynamic talents. Named by Elle Décor to its A–‐List of the country’s top interior designers in 2011, 2012 and 2013, Jay brings his signature style to every project clearly detailed in his debut monograph, Jay Jeffers: Collected Cool.
Since founding his firm in 1999, he has designed homes in San Francisco, Silicon Valley, Tahoe, Los Angeles, New York and beyond. In 2013, Ritz–‐Carlton commissioned Jay to design the signature penthouses for the Ritz-‐Carlton Residences Lake Tahoe.
Michael Imber, FAIA is the Principal Architect of Michael G. Imber, Architects, PLLC a modern classical design firm based in San Antonio, Texas and recognized for a body of work that is strong in historic sentiment, yet modern in its execution.
Michael has been honored with numerous design awards including the Texas society of architect’s William W. Caudill, FAIA Award; the Arthur Ross Award for his enduring commitment to the classical tradition in residential architecture, civic buildings, and neighborhood design. In 2008, he was inducted into the American Institute of Architects College of Fellows for his contribution to American Design. Most recently, he has been the winner of the 2010, 2011, and 2013 Palladio Award for outstanding achievement in traditional design and numerous Texas ICA&A Staub Awards in 2011 and 2012 and is the designer of the 2011 Southern Living Idea House. The monograph of his work, Michael G. Imber: Ranches Villas & Houses was released in early 2014
