After studying French floral art in Paris with extended training in Germany, Laura Dowling established a successful floral design business in Washington, D.C. before taking on the role of Chief Floral Designer for the White House from 2009 until 2015. As creative director for flowers and décor, she managed White House floral design for thousands of official and private events as well as large-scale installations such as the Fourth of July and the iconic White House Christmas. Her floral creations also graced Camp David and the Presidential private residence.
Laura is an annual presenter at the Philadelphia Flower Show, the nation’s oldest and largest flower expo. Her designs have been featured in magazines and on HGTV. Laura was commissioned by the U.S. Postal Service to design a collection of holiday wreath stamps that were launched nationwide on October 25, 2019. She is the author of Floral Diplomacy at the White House, A White House Christmas and Wreaths. Her newest book Bouquets was released earlier this year.
