The Houston Design Center to Hold Toy Drive for MAM’s Christmas Share Program

The Houston Design Center is proud to support Memorial Assistance Ministries (MAM) Christmas Share drive to collect new toys and funds to provide gifts to their client families. Each child age 13 and under will receive a bag of toys valued at approximately $50. Each bag of gifts contains one age-appropriate larger gift and two smaller gifts. Children over the age of 13 receive a $50 gift card. Additionally, MAM includes blankets to each child’s gifts in response to school counselors, nurses, and parents who reported that many children do not have what they need to keep them warm when the weather gets cold.

“Without MAM Christmas Share there wasn’t going to be anything under the tree,” stated Georgia Kimmel, MAM Director of Client Programs. “Many parents come alone so their children will think that Santa brought the presents. They were so appreciative of the support from MAM and the community members for providing gifts to their family. They are able provide some level of normalcy for their families during the holiday season.”

From November 23 through December 11 The Houston Design Center will have decorated boxes throughout the center where visitors may bring their donations. All toys should be new and unwrapped. Memorial Assistance Ministries (MAM) is a Section 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides emergency financial assistance and other services for families and individuals who find themselves in temporary crisis and in need of assistance to attain self-sufficiency and avoid homelessness.
