The Houston Design Center Welcomes Curtis & Windham Architects To Fall Market October 10

The Houston Design Center (7026 Old Katy Road) is honored to welcome esteemed architects, William Curtis and Russell Windham of Curtis & Windham Architects, as Keynote Speakers of the annual Fall Market, Tuesday October 10. Curtis and Windham will discuss their new book A VISION OF PLACE – The Work of Curtis & Windham Architects. In this graciously appointed book, Curtis and Windham, with contributions from some of their associates, reflect on more than two decades of the practice of classical contemporary architecture, providing an expansive view of eighteen representative projects that range from a small garage-studio in an unassuming neighborhood near Rice University to large dwellings situated in Houston’s River Oaks, and even including multi-building, country retreats.

Curtis and Windham will be joined by Robin K. Mueck, Heritage Texas Properties President & CEO to discuss the creation of the book and their approach to classical architecture. The program will begin at 11 AM in the Bunch & Shoemaker Showroom 152 followed by a book signing.

The Fall Market will also include programs and panel discussions including Preservation of Houston’s Eye on the Past: The Partnership of Modern Design and Historic Preservation with Special Guests Jane-Page Crump RID, ASID, Darla Bankston May, ASID, RID, and William W. Stubbs RID, ASID, IIDA. These three design-industry and Preservation Houston leaders will discuss their shared passion for design and historic preservation. The panel discussion begins at 1:30 PM in the Charlotte Nail Antiques Showroom 165.

A talk “Houston After Harvey” What Now? How do we Rebuild? will include special guests Chaille Ralph, President Heritage Texas Properties; Joshua Sanders, Registered Lobbyist at the City of Houston and Executive Director for Houstonians for Responsible Growth and Russell Windham, Founding Principal Curtis & Windham Architects. Guests will explore how Houston has changed since Hurricane Harvey drowned our city with historic levels of rainfall with moderators Meredith & Yuri Xavier of The Ligné Group. The talk will take place from 3:00 to 4:30 pm at Thorntree Slate & Marble Showroom 167.
